Notes

Note
We don't know when George came to Weisenberg Township in Northampton ‎(now Lehigh)‎ County, or where he came from, but we do know that he obtained a warrant for a large farm there on 14 Nov 1787. This land was surveyed twice, the first time on 15 Mar 1788 set the size at 319 3/4 acres, but the second survey on 11 Oct 1793 reduced it to 300 1/4 acres. Based on this second survey, a copy of which appears below, the land was patented to George as shown in the patent the contents of which are quoted below the survey.

ATTEST, Sm Thompson Secretary

INROLLED the 18th January A.D. 1805

George and his wife Elizabeth established themselves and their family on this farm and prospered. According to an Agreement made between George and his son Solomon at the same time that the deeds below were executed, and recorded in Deed Book C, page 402 imediately in front of the deeds, the parents and their other children were taken care of as indicated.

The following document, an agreement between George Falck and his son Solomon Falck, has been only partially translated from the archaic German in which it was written and is presented here in somewhat abbreviated and paraphrased form. Every effort has been made to reatin the gist and meaning of the text even though it has been impossible, as yet, to obtain a word for word translation.

This aggreement, made the 6th day of September 1807, between George Falck of Weisenberg Township, Northhampton County, Pennsylvania, party of the first part, and his son Solomon falck of the same place, party of the other part, states that the Father George, having sold his acreage to his son Solomon, said acreage being situated in Weisenberg Township, County and State above, and expressly described as being 188 acres of land bordered by land of Nicolaus Moyer, Jacob Sidla, Jonathan Schumacher, Johannes Vogel, Lenard Kach, and others, together with all his goods, a number of cows, one sheep, pigs and other articles found on the place, the Father shall retain all that he can use for himself as long as he or his wife lives. The Father is also to receive the necessary amount of 800 pounds in money, being the sale price of the land. The son Solomon Falck to retain his inheritance of 147 pounds already received and the remaining 653 pounds promised to Solomon Falckand his Executors and Administrators, it being determined that the remaining sum is correct and shall be paid to Solomon Falck. George Falck, the Father, directs that one year after the date of this agreement Solomon Falck shall give to his brother Johannes 25 pounds, one year after that also give his brother Casper 25 pounds, and on the third year give his brother Johan George Falck 25 pounds, and on the fourth year give his sister Christine, the wife of Johannes Schumacher, 25 pounds, in the fifth year give his brother Mathias Falck 25 pounds, in the sixth year give his sister Elizabeth 25 pounds, in the seventh year give his brother Jacob Falck 25 pounds, in the eight year give his brother Heinrich 25 pounds, in the ninth year give his sister Madalena 25 pounds, in the tenth year give his brother Johannes Falck 25 pounds, and from there on yearly give 25 pounds until the some of 620 pounds has been given. ‎(It seems that this second listing of Johannes indicates that the list of brothers and sisters is starting over and that the payments will again rotate in the order given above. However, the translation is incomplete and vague on this point.)‎ The Father and his wife Elizabeth shall live in and use the homestead as long as either of them lives, and starting on December 27, 1808, and yearly thereafter, Solomon Falck, his Executors and Administrators, shall give the parents 14 bushels of buck wheat, 14 bushels of potatoes, 14 bushels of good wheat, one fat hog, including all things that come from a hog such as hide and intestines, also pieces of beef, Solomon to provide a rear quarter of beef. Solomon or those living in the premises shall provide two cows together with winter feed and summer feed as necessary. He shall also supply the Father with as much firewood as he needs, cut as small as he desires. Solomon shall also bring to the house yearly 1/2 pound of salt, other supplies, 100 eggs, no more than a dozen at a time, one barrel of apples, when there are apples, 5 gallons of Brand wine when there are apples. The Father shall be given yearly two pairs of woolen stockings, one pair of shoes, as many other stockings as he desires as long as he lives, and for his wife, Solomon or kin to plow the garden and supply beets when there are some. When the parents need a doctorthis shall be attended to immediately and they shall depend on Solomon. Should the parents desire chickens Solomon is to provide them. This agreement shall continue until both parents have died, when Solomon shall be relieved of all aid. If the father dies before the mother Solomon is to supply her with the produce of the house garden in the amount she needs. When the mother does not desire to live with hom, or when both parents are deceased Solomon shall receive all their belongings with the exception of what belongs to his brothers and sisters, then Solomon is to fulfill the several obligations assigned him under this agreement. When Solomon slaughters one hog at the "Butchering" time he must give the father one baby pig. Fulfillment hereof correctly and honorably is pledged by both father and son, whose hand and seals are herto subscribed:-
Solomon Falk, George Falk, and Elizabeth Falk. Wtinessed by John Vogel, Justice of the Peace of Northhampton County on the first day of October 1807. Recorded on 18 January 1808.

From this document we learn that George and Elizabeth had eleven children living in 1807, even though we know almost nothing about any of them except Jacob.

p. 81

The patent for his farm apparently arrived late in George's life because he started to divide it between two of his sons even before the date of the patent, as shown by this deed to his son Daniel:-
